Here is a simple Winter tale / reading and writing activity.
Children can read the text and fill in the missing words.
The answers are given in red on the next slide and the pictures around the colour border help children with the words they need.
There is a blank border page where children can make up their own Winter tale and use the pictures to help them. Alternatively, they can draw a picture of the Winter tale or a Winter picture of their own.
There are also colour flashcards without words and colour flashcards with words that can assist children with their reading and writing.
4 activity sheets for children based on winter / weather.
On each sheet children read the words and match them to the ones that are the same.
The fonts are different for each word to make it a bit more difficult.
Children could colour and cut out their snowmen and they could be made into a display.
Alternatively, they can cut and match the words and paste into their work books.
4 worksheets to support children with their handwriting and letter recognition and formation.
Sheet 1 encourages children to look at the shapes of the letters with rounded parts, sound them and then write them, tracing over the dotted letters.

A topical activity for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations due to her long association with the Corgi.
Activity 1 is an outline writing frame for children to fill in about the Corgi dog. They will need to do some research.
Questions include appearance, diet and an interesting fact.
There is a filled in sheet to show as an example or to work from.
Activity 2 shows 4 pairs of Corgi dogs for children to cut and match.
Activity 3 is a colouring sheet of a Corgi.
A cross curricular resource for children linked to the story -Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.
The resource includes counting writing and drawing as well as emotions/feelings.
Sheets:
1- Children cut out the cards and count and order the colour dwarfs from 1 to 7.
2 - Shows the colour dwarfs and their names. Children can write the names underneath or write a word or phrase to describe them.
3 - Shows black and white dwarfs for children to write the names underneath and colour. They then draw their favourite dwarf and say why it is their favourite.
4 -Shows cards with the names of the dwarfs. Chidren can draw the dwarfs, cut and paste from a previous sheet or write about them with a word or phrase.
Link this resource with feelings and children could also draw feeling faces to illustrate the dwarfs.
5 worksheets where children find 8 words or more within the words given.
These are: princess, celebration, fireworks, birthday and Christmas.
On each sheet, children write a list of the words they have found.
The final sheet gives a list of 8 words for each of the key words as examples.
